Nordic Walking
Nordic Walking – NW is a dynamic fitness walking in a terrain with different demandness profile, where the walker uses a pair of special sticks for Nordic walking.
The rhythm of movements is determined by a cross-walking dynamics. This is an ideal form of physical exercise with an efficiency higher by 40 - 50% then during the normal walking.
The walker has a better stability and feels more secure, load imposed upon load-bearing joints is by 30% lower, and the Nordic walking is thus better tolerated in cases of degenerative diseases of the spine and load-bearing joints, and it is one of the most suitable motoric activities for patients affected by osteoporosis. It improves the fat and carbohydrate metabolism, and thus could be used as an effective outdoors exercise for reducing the body weight. It is also an efficient breathing gymnastics, improving cardio-pulmonal efficiency, being a good form of cardio-pulmonal exercise.
The Nordic walking is an ideal motoric activity for all age groups, including seniors with degenerative diseases of spine, load-bearing joints, balance-stability-co-ordination impairments, or ischemic vascular diseases. It should be prescribed by a doctor, procedure is designed for 60 minutes. Individually adjustable size of Nordic sticks are fit for each patient and borrowed to him/her.
The procedure takes place in the natural environment of the Spa Island. We recommend sport/outdoor dress and conformable sport shoes. During the rainy weather the procedure takes place in the gymnasium – as a special exercise NW Stretching.
